The Medicines Regulatory Board (“board”) Botswana Medicines Regulation Authority (“BoMRA”) would like to announce the appointment of Dr. Siema Dijeng as the BoMRA acting Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 January 2023. This follows the departure of Dr. Stephen Ghanie whose tenure ended on 31 December 2022.
Dr. Dijeng has been with BoMRA since 2018, as director of Licensing and enforcement, with responsibility for overseeing the operational functions of inspections and licensing of pharmaceutical premises, laboratory services, import and export control, and enforcement. He holds a Master of Science Degree obtained from University College Dublin in Republic of Ireland as well as a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Queensland in Australia. He has completed a variety of in-house training programs in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs.
Dr. Dijeng previously worked for the Ministry of Agriculture, in the department of Veterinary Services, ultimately rising to the level of Deputy Director, prior joining BoMRA. He has over 14 years experience in various areas of regulation including premise compliance, product safety and enforcement.
