The Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority (BoMRA) refers to the previous Public Notice on the Introduction of Mandatory Listing of Cosmetic Products, which indicated that the listing of cosmetic products would become mandatory from 1 April 2026.
BoMRA hereby informs stakeholders and members of the public that the implementation of mandatory listing has been delayed until 31 December 2026 to allow stakeholders more time to list their products, minimize business operation interruptions and provide sufficient stakeholder engagement.
The revised implementation timeline is as follows:
- Voluntary Listing Period
Until 31 December 2026, listing of cosmetic products will remain voluntary. Stakeholders are encouraged to continue submitting product information even before mandatory compliance deadline
- Mandatory Listing (No Fees)
From 1 January 2027 to 31 March 2027, mandatory listing of all cosmetic products placed on the Botswana market will take effect. During this period, no listing fees will be charged.
- Mandatory Listing With Fees
Effective 1 April 2027, mandatory listing will continue and applicable listing fees will be introduced. Details of the fees will be communicated in due course.
Manufacturers, importers and distributors may submit products through the BoMRA Regulatory Information Management System (BRIMS) at: https://brims.bomra.co.bw/
BoMRA encourages stakeholders to utilize the transition period to ensure all cosmetic products intended for the Botswana market are submitted for listing.
